Renewable Energy

Over the next few years we are going to have to build carbon free homes. This means new homes will not use a fossil fuel as a heat source. They will have to rely on electricity and renewable energy for their heat energy.

Renewable energy is nothing new – some countries have been pursuing this ideal for decades. In Scandinavia there have been geo thermal and solar systems since the 1970’s.In Germany over 60% of householder’s have Solar powered hot water.

The difference here is the lack of interest from the government and so lack of financial aid, which has made these systems too expensive – up to now.

The government’s view has changed and there are now Renewable Heat Incentives which should encourage all of us in a position to do so to have a renewable energy source. In fact you would be mad not to!!

There have been grants towards the installation costs and these coupled with the RHI’s make going green very worthwhile. We can give you all the necessary details – please ask!

There are several ways we can ‘space heat’ your home. We can provide an Air source heat pump which uses the air to generate heat and there are Ground source heat pumps which use the latent heat in the ground to generate heat for your home.

We can add a solar system to your property to give you free hot water for six months of the year and to help pre heat the cylinder through the winter.

These systems can be combined and added to other sources such as a Rayburn or log burner to give you complete sustainability.  Again just ask.

All of these systems are best suited to new build homes or homes where a complete refurbishment is going to take place but we have solutions for anyone who is interested in going green and saving a fortune on their heating costs.
